Supported goals
freeze — restrict release of the NCTUE report when deletion is unavailable. This does not erase the file.
opt-out — use the distinct prescreen choice only when it matches the user’s goal; it is not a report freeze.
Channels and required capabilities
- Channel: official browser guidance, telephone, or postal mail
- Harness capabilities: browser and filesystem; postal/phone steps are manual
- Destination: NCTUE consumer page
Minimum known fields
Use the current official form or instructions. The user handles identifiers, documents, signatures, and recovery information directly.
Procedure
- Keep the NCTUE freeze separate from its prescreen opt-out.
- Warn that a freeze may affect legitimate telecom, cable, or utility applications and deposits.
- Preview the specific channel and obtain approval.
- The user completes sensitive and final steps; record only minimal evidence.
Manual checkpoints
- Telephone/postal handling, sensitive fields, identity documents, signature, and final submission are user-handled.
Evidence and status interpretation
A confirmation proves only NCTUE’s reported restriction. It is not deletion and does not freeze Equifax or another report.
Limitations
- NCTUE is serviced by Equifax, but the NCTUE freeze is a separate control.
- Review current access exceptions and lift instructions.
