Supported goals
freeze — SafeRent will freeze its consumer report on request when deletion is unavailable. This restricts release and does not erase the file.
Channels and required capabilities
- Channel: current official consumer-relations channel, telephone, or postal mail
- Harness capabilities: browser and filesystem; phone/postal actions are manual
- Destination: start at SafeRent’s consumer-support page
Minimum known fields
Use only current official requirements. The user handles identifiers, documents, signature, and recovery information directly.
Procedure
- Explain that the freeze may delay or prevent a legitimate landlord from completing a rental screen.
- Confirm no imminent rental application requires access.
- Verify the channel, preview the request, and obtain approval.
- The user completes sensitive and final steps; record minimal evidence.
Manual checkpoints
- Phone or mail, identifiers, documents, signature, verification, and final submission are user-handled.
Evidence and status interpretation
A sent request is not an active freeze until confirmed. A freeze is not deletion and does not remove source records.
Limitations
- The SafeRent freeze covers data SafeRent maintains, such as housing-court and additional-address information; it does not freeze resold Equifax, Experian, or TransUnion credit data.
- Review current access exceptions, product scope, and lift/removal instructions.
